womensphere is now on twitter – please follow our tweets at http://twitter.com/womensphereWiL

Many apologies for the gap in postings.

Damp autumn England had left womensphere volunteers with tedious colds and snuffles.

We will try to catch up with news we have missed.

In the meantime please contact us if you want to pass on information or have a query.

Apologies for not keeping up with postings in March – a high level of work including our IWD blog – has meant we have got a bit behind. So the next few postings are a round up of some of the stories we did not post at the time.

We have also added an RSS feed from the new service from IPS News – Genderwire – see first right hand column.

15th April 2009

Many apologies for low number of postings over August. Just work overload, not even a holiday in rain sodden England!

To make up for this will be posting article headings and links to source, but it may be that in the intervening period some links will have become obsolete.

In the meantime UK and Ireland items are still being posted on womensgrid.

Reminder all UK and Ireland postings are now on womensgrid – go to http://womensgrid.freecharity.org.uk and / or see second rss feed in first column to the right.

To see the original annoucement go to https://womensphere.wordpress.com/2008/05/09/womensgrid-blog-for-local-womens-news-and-information/

Following feedback from users we set up the blog womensgrid to focus on information by and about women from around the UK and Ireland (and any European items that seem relevant).

So to see the latest UK and Ireland posting go to http://womensgrid.freecharity.org.uk and / or see second rss feed in first column to the right.

Sorry that we haven’t been able to make any postings to womensphere over the past week. All work on the blog is voluntary and other calls on time have meant we have got behind.

Don’t forget UK and Eire women’s news is on womensgrid http://womensgrid.freecharity.org.uk

(see original annoucement at https://womensphere.wordpress.com/2008/05/09/womensgrid-blog-for-local-womens-news-and-information/)

Following feedback from users we have now set us a new blog – womensgrid – which will focus on information by and about women from around the UK and Ireland (and any European items that seem relevant).

Please take a look at http://womensgrid.freecharity.org.uk

So please do send us any information about your women’s groups and / or local women’s actions and activities. For the time being please use the online form that we set up for this blog.

We have also set up information about how you can subscribe to this new blog via email if you are not able to import an rss feed into a news reader. Please go to the subscribe page for womensgrid for details.

On womensphere will continue to have postings by and about women from other countries.

We will of course incorporate new items from both blogs in our e-updates which we are currently sending to around 2,000 women primarily working or volunteering for women’s groups. If you just want to receive email alerts of new information added to both our blogs and also to women in london and our training and funding e-group (WiLT you can subscribe to these WiL e-updates by clicking on this link.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to make many useful comments and suggestions we received.

Following feedback that the automatic archiving of WordPress are difficult to follow, we have set up an ‘index’ page of current postings.

See: https://womensphere.wordpress.com/index-to-current-postings/

Sorry if you are confused by the ‘new look’ womensphere, but we have changed the layout again as apparently the last one did not display properly in Internet Explorer.

Please let us know of any problems with this layout – we are limited to designs offered with the free hosting.

Thanks

The template for womensphere has been changed as there has been feedback that the original one made it difficult to follow postings dn categories etc..

We are trying to only use templates that go some way to meet WAI web accessibility standards, so are aware that having the menu on the right hand side may not be an improvement.

Feed back welcome – please get in touch via our online form.

why womensphere

womensphere replaces the public notice board linked to women in london

the blog will still allow information by and about women who are not part of the women in london directory to have their information shared via the internet in the same way as the public notice board

but it will also allow information posted to be categorised, be searchable and have an rss feed
